nape knot

Did you do Michelle Williams’ hair knot for the Shutter Island premieres?
Yes—lately, she’s been liking little knots that sit off to the side. She’s very simple when it comes to her hair and doesn’t like doing anything too difficult. For the Shutter Island premiere in New York she was wearing this Lanvin dress with a big ruffled shoulder so we went for a ballerina knot at the nape of her neck so that you could see more of the dress. I’m also loving high knots at the moment—ones that sit right on top of the head.

Shutter Island Premiere

At the 60th Berlin Film Festival and then in New York Michelle Williams positively glowed at the Shutter Island premieres this week. Michelle Williams’ makeup was done by Chanel celebrity makeup artist Kara Yoshimoto Bua, who sent out the following notes on the makeup she created:

“Michelle’s look was inspired by simple elegance. I kept her youthful glow by first moisturizing with CHANEL Sublimage Fluid, with then a wash of CHANEL Teint Innocence Foundation in Beige, blended with my fingers.

We focused on lashes using CHANEL Sculpte Cils Mascara on the upper and lower lashes, and warmed up the eyes with CHANEL Quadra Eye Shadow in Kaska Beige.

To brighten and open the eyes I used CHANEL Éclat Lumière Highlighter Face Pen in Light Medium on the inner eye, under eye and brow bone, and blended out to her temples.

The face is neutral using CHANEL Powder Blush in Tempting Beige on the cheeks to contour, with a touch of CHANEL Tweed Blush Duo in Tweed Rose on the apples of the cheeks.

I defined the lips with CHANEL Lip Definer in Natural, and gave a little shimmer with the pale, shimmery silver CHANEL Aqualumiere Gloss in Colibri .”

Michelle Williams Berlin Film Festival

NYFW (that’s New York Fashion Week, if you didn’t know) has officially ended. One of the hottest looks on the runway, however, is just beginning to be seen!

Pale, monochromatic makeup in shades of beige-rose was all the rage, and after some investigating, it looks like Michelle Williams wore this exact look this past weekend at the Berlin Film Festival.

The look is simple and elegant, her makeup pro Kara Yoshimoto Bua tells To brighten her eyes, Bua used Chanel Eclat Lumiere Highlighter Face Pen in Light Medium. She contoured cheeks with beige powder blush, then added a pop of rose on her cheek’s apples. The finish: Lips filled in with Chanel Lip Definer pencil in Natural with shine added thanks to Chanel Aqualumiere Gloss in Colibri.

Work this look with shades of beige, rose or even silvery lilac. Best part? Because the hues are pale, they’re goofproof and universally flattering!
