Opponents of the late Margaret Thatcher are taking a kind of musical revenge on the former prime minister, pushing the song “Ding Dong! The Witch is Dead” up the British charts in a posthumous protest over her polarizing policies.

Police have urged people planning to disrupt the funeral to contact them so that lawful protests can be organised, a pro-active tactic used successfully during last year’s Olympic Games in London.
[April 14]
Metal barriers are seen as only a deterant and not likely to stop determined protest groups which police say could be hijacked by one of four recognised anarchist and anti-austerity groups hell bent on using the event
A whole police unit has been monitoring social-media for hints of trouble and so far have noted groups involved in running battles with police in 2009 during austerity protests have again been rallying supporters for a day of action.
Businesses and shops along the route have also been asked to be “eyes and ears” for anything suspicious in the days leading up to the event.
A tactical group is being based on the River Thames to quickly deploy to any outbreak in trouble and are being kept in small units in side streets all of which will be blocked.Former senior police officer Roger Gomm said searches of the route are expected with manhole covers and letter boxes checked and sealed.

The security operation, the biggest since the London Olympics, will involve hundreds of police officers standing along the entire route which will go into lockdown at least four hours before the procession on Wednesday. All leave has been cancelled and extra troops have been brought in for local constabularies outside London.

They will be supported by mounted police unit, the police air helicopters and tactical riot squads.

Ronald Perelman, Ellen Barkin

Ronald Perelman, Ellen Barkin

– Billionaire Ronald Perelman and his former wife, actress Ellen Barkin, settled their dueling claims involving her film production company, Applehead Pictures LLC.
The case was resolved less than a month after a New York appeals court ruled that Perelman had to pay $4.3 million to Applehead Pictures after reneging on an agreement to invest in it. An agreement to drop the case was filed in New York state Supreme Court on Dec. 28. The court rejected Perelman’s argument that Barkin’s alleged breaches of the separation agreement relieved him of his obligations in the business agreement. Perelman had countersued in state Supreme Court, alleging Barkin misappropriated Applehead funds to finance personal expenses. The cases were consolidated. Perelman and Barkin, his fourth wife, went through a bitter divorce in 2006. Barkin reportedly got $40 million when they separated.
Ellen Barkin has been starring in an array of independent movies recently. She plays the lead role in the dark comedy “Another Happy Day” — “It’s like ‘Ordinary People’ with belly laughs,” Barkin said — which will have its world premiere at Sundance.

The 56-year-old Barkin also produced the movie, working closely with first-time director Sam Levinson (the son of “Diner’s” Barry Levinson) over two years to land actors and financing. Barkin knows that a good Sundance reception will only help bring her better options. “I don’t ever want to be talked about in a specific way,” Barkin said. “But it’s hard for any actor to work. I am a believer in the idea that work begets work. Unless you’re in a very rarefied position of movie star status, you have to keep working in order to keep working.” Ex-restaurateur (and a former Diaz boss) Brian McNally once expressed surprise that Ellen Barkin wasn’t nicer to the staff – because he’d dated the actress back when she was waiting tables.

In spring 2007, Ronald Perelman and his business partner Donald Drapkin had a bitter falling-out and Mr. Drapkin left Mr. Perelman after more than 20 years. , “I just can’t take it anymore.” Then, “Ronald called me up and he said: ‘OK, you can have it your way; I’ll let you out, but it won’t be pretty,’ screaming at the top of his lungs.” Two months after the attempted reconciliation over drinks, Mr. Drapkin sued, claiming he was owed $18 million in unpaid compensation.

Mr. Perelman countersued for breach of contract and claimed he owed nothing.
The documents also offer details about how 68-year-old Mr. Perelman built his vast fortune—estimated by Forbes at $11 billion—and how some of his longest business partnerships abruptly ended, just when the financial markets were beginning to collapse in 2007.

Since late 2007, the stock price of Mr. Perelman’s largest public company by market value, lottery operator Scientific Games Corp., has fallen 71%. Shares of M&F Worldwide Corp., which does everything from print bank checks to make licorice flavoring for tobacco companies, have declined 59%. And shares in cosmetics company Revlon Inc. have slid 11%. Over the same time period, the Russell 2000 index of small-cap stocks has risen 3%.
In his deposition last year, Mr. Drapkin said that under a contract negotiated with Mr. Gittis, he pocketed 3% of “any deal we did” and 8% of “any deal I brought in.” His base salary was $15 million per year, according to a 2002 employment agreement.

Director Paul Thomas Anderson celebrated the life of his close friend and collaborator Philip Seymour Hoffman by delivering a touching eulogy at the actor’s funeral in New York on Friday.

The filmmaker cast the actor in three of his films – “Boogie Nights,” “Magnolia” and “The Master” – and he helped to pay tribute to his late pal at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola service by sharing his favorite memories, many of which prompted warm laughter from mourners including Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore and “The Master” co-stars Amy Adams and Joaquin Phoenix.

“The Wire” star John Doman, who was among the 400 guests at the memorial, tells NBC News, “It was sad, it was celebratory, it was emotional, it was inspirational, it was terrific.”

Playwright Jose Rivera, who worked with Hoffman at the Off Broadway Labyrinth Theater Company, tells the Wall Street Journal, “It was quite beautiful. He (Anderson) just had a lot of very personal and lovely memories of Phil. And he made us all laugh; he quoted Phil extensively and we could kind of hear his voice in the room.”

After the 90-minute service, Hoffman’s coffin was carried out by six pallbearers as his longtime girlfriend, Mimi O’Donnell, and their three young children looked on from the top of the church’s steps.

Other stars in attendance at the funeral included Michelle Williams, Jake Gyllenhaal, Ethan Hawke, Ellen Burstyn, John Slattery, Mary Louise Parker, Jerry Stiller, Marisa Tomei and Spike Lee.

Heath Ledger, died January 22 2008

The father of the late actor Heath Ledger has attacked reports that Philip Seymour Hoffman helped counsel his son about his supposed “drug addiction”, calling them a “complete and disrespectful fabrication”.
The reports, which surfaced on a website called Popdust and have since been repeated by British tabloid The Daily Mail. But Ledger’s father, Kim, has rubbished the reports.
“This is a complete and disrespectful fabrication of circumstances surrounding any relationship Heath and Philip Seymour Hoffman may have had and very offensive to the memory of Heath for his family and friends,” he said.
“Heath died from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs whilst suffering severe pneumonia and sleep deprivation.
“Our thoughts are also with Philip’s family and friends during this tragic time.”
Ledger was found dead in his New York apartment in 2008. The New York City chief medical examiner ruled his death was caused by an accidental overdose of prescription medications.

DSK club case settled?

DSK club name changed

Dominique Alderweireld claimed that “The DSK” meant in reality “Dodo Sex Klub”, the former president of the IMF nevertheless sued the owner of the club. On June 30,3014, a Belgian justice prohibited Dominique Alderweireld to use the initials of Dominique Strauss-Kahn to increase the notoriety of his bar hostesses, located near the French border. A judgment which Dominique Alderweireld appealed.
While the Court of appeal of Mons had to consider the case, Tuesday, March 3, it seems that the two men have finally reached an agreement. “At the end of last week, I was contacted by Mr Strauss-Kahn’s counsel proposing a settlement.Dominique Alderweireld wished to add specific conditions. The terms of the agreement are not yet finalized but it will not result in a delay”, said Mr. Etienne Wéry, the lawyer of Dominique Alderweireld. It islikely that Dominique Strauss-Kahn will abandons the suit and that Dominique Alderweireld renounces the name “The DSK”.

Alderweireld and Strauss-Kahn both face pimping charges in relation to an alleged prostitution ring at the luxury Hotel Carlton in the French city of Lille

Strauss-Kahn has had a letter sent by his French lawyers threatening every judicial measure against Dominique Alderweireld or ‘Dodo la Saumure’ for opening brothel under the name ‘Dodo Sex Klub'” with his (Strauss-Kahn’s) initials “which identify him to all.” It is set to open in the town of Blaton in Belgium, where prostitution and owning brothels are legal. French prosecutors are convinced they have a case against Strauss-Kahn for “aggravated pimping in an organised gang.”

The case, known here as the “Carlton affair”, centres around allegations that business leaders and police officials in Lille operated a vice ring supplying girls for sex parties, some of which are said to have taken place at the city’s Carlton Hotel. Investigators are seeking to discover if prostitutes were paid using corporate funds from a large French construction company, Eiffage.
“If these parties and these trips across the Atlantic were being financed by a major French group for purposes of prostitution obviously that puts a lot of people in deep trouble because it is a misuse of corporate money,” said a legal expert who is not linked to the Strauss-Kahn case.

Dominique Alderweireld with partner Bea allege basement orgy

Former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn cancelled plans to speak at an European Parliament debate next week, after MEPs said it would be “indecent” for him to speak at the House.

Madame Bea reveals the events that occurred on March 6, 2009 in the Parisian restaurant L Aventure where, after lunch, Strauss-Kahn and five more men went down to the basement and began the sex party,. “I have in my mind the image of DSK dressed only in a white shirt. He had dropped his pants and had four straight sex with the girl on all fours and just meters from us.
